If you have a digital camcorder can you down load direct to the computer through a firewire connection.
If your computer runs on XP and you have the latest download of Windows Media player do you need any other programs to download???

If you have Windows XP you should have Windows Movie Maker bundled in the system and this is what you use to transfer video from Camcorder to PC via firewiare. Windows Media Player is a viewer.

Ok, I am new to this. I have the movie maker bundle now what do I do to get the process rolling. A easy step by step proceedure would help.

Hook your camcorder to PC via firewire cable, set your camcorder to VCR, and run tape to the beginning of the video you want to pull into your PC. Open Windows Movie Maker. IF WMM recoginzes your camcorder click on "capture from video device" and choose your camcorder as the video device. WMM will begin capturing your video when you click on "start". Click on "stop" when you have the video you want. You can get instructions on how to use WMM from the Help Topics.

Darren, I have a few clips I'd like to send to the site, but have no idea of how to send them to you. Will video's edited in Premier be okay to submit, or do I need to do some conversion?

What is the capture card? How much and where to find one?

A capture card is a device that you plug between your camera and your computer. They are about $70 and you can find them on the internet or at your local electronics store. Try a google search for "Dazzle Capture Card."

Peyton:
This is a great diagram, but it still doesn't tell me or anyone else, where on this website is a button or tool for uploading video from our computers. I know how to transfer video from my camera to my computer. I've been doing video transfer and editing for a while, I want to know where on this website to upload my videos to. Is it through email to a storage place? Tell us with words how to upload to this website, not transfer from camera to computer.
Thank You!

At the top of the Home Page there is a link in the Link Bar for Upload Videos. Be patient when the upload starts, it can be a while before it completes depending on your connection speed. Notice there is a 10mb file limit as well.
Click on the thumbnail below for a screen shot of the home page with the link marked. Thanks.

After you push the upload button you'll have to wait sometimes 5-15 minutes maybe longer depending on your INTERNET speed.
You'll know when its finished because the page will change to a screen where you can pick a thumbnail image from your computer.
It will show up in the gallery immediately after upload. If not you'll have a message telling you whats wrong.
I sent you a PM. ...I hope this helps !

Bowana, you are correct sir! Thanks for the help
I've seen uploads take up to 30 minutes on dialup! With DSL, Cable, and Satellite uploads should take around 2-3 minutes for evey 10 MegaBytes. So a 30mb file= 6-10 minutes.
Just be patient, whatever you do please don't hit the back button and upload again. The page will change to the "Process Video" page after the upload is complete.
On the Process page, please select a thumbnail image from your computer that fits the video's theme. Also, PLEASE fill in the information fields and tell us about your video.
Email or PM me, Wildworks, or Bowana if you need any help. You can also search the forum for your particular problem. Most questions have been answered already in the forum.
