Hey guys/gals,

Just wondering why there is so much footage of animals just poking around and very little actual hunting footage? seems to be more and more "wildlife documentary footage" than hunting...if i wanted to watch footage of animals not being hunted i would watch national geographic.

Just my opinion.

I still love the hunting footage, keep em coming!

I was wondering if you would consider a new topic that relates to non-hunting footage, it just seems that it would be beneficial to have a topic for non-hunting footage, just so there is some distinction between "Hunting footage" and "wildlife documentary footage" that way we dont waste our time browsing footage that ends up not being hunting footage at all, very annoying when your looking for hunting footage and avoiding "national geographic footage"

Thanks

I started to reply but decided not to . Then I seen you posted twice about this so it must really bother you .

In case you have not noticed , not to many of us are hunting at this time of the year . If you look back you will find a ton of " Hunting Footage " . Some members try and pass the time by posting any fooatge they have of deer or bear . Untill season kicks back in I see no problem with it .

If you give a good look at the thumbnail and read the description you should be able to figure out it is not what you want to view so just do not click the thumbnail to watch the clip rolleyes.gif

What do you call hunting footage? Many times I video a buck or a critter from the tree stand while hunting that does not get shot. Why would that not be hunting footage? To many folks, part of hunting is choosing to shoot or not to shoot. If someone wants to share that buck, tom, or what-ever that they let pass, that is just as entertaining to me as when someone shoots one. So how do we classify hunting from nonhunting footage? Now I agree that when someone posts a clip of totally non-hunting related bull, but Darren takes good care of us there. I also see allot of trail videocamera stuff here that I also enjoy seeing. I use trail cameras and find that they are a very valuable tool for hunting. Is that what you are calling non hunting footage?

I am not trying to start something here. I am just curious about what you are upset with.

Cree,

I merged your two posts since they were about the same subject.

I agree with gottahunt. "Hunting" can include many activities that do not actually involve killing something. For example, I consider "scouting" as being part of hunting. I personally WANT to see the animals that people let go or couldn't get a shot on and I firmly believe that most of the members also feel this way.

I could put another field in the video details that would allow someone to post whether or not there was a kill. However, history has shown that most people would not enter the information. Shoot, I can't get people to enter all the fields and post thumbnails the way it is.

Additionally, and most importantly, focusing on the killing part (as you are suggesting), would send the wrong message about hunting. Hunting is not only killing.

Point well taken about definition of "hunting" i get that part. i just inquiring if the site can be enhanced to include "advanced search features" to include an option where we can choose between the local deer in the backyard and actual hunting footage where a shot is actually taken. I dont know if you have that capability in these forums but would be nice for some users.

It would be an optional feature at best, im not trying to say that you should make a topic or gallery soley on killing or shots taken but an option where we can narrow down our search results, thats all.

just a thought.

Very true, but if you have ever sold a video at a sports show you quickly realize exactley what people are buying them for. I doubt I've ever sold one that I wasn't asked how many kills were on it. It is almost like people are buying based on a cost-per-kill equation. And yes hunting is still killing. The game watching, scouting and passing on animals is all to one purpose, killing the chosen animal. If you do nothing but watch and scout and not pack a weapon you're not hunting any more are you?
