I have video that I rendered to a .wmv in Sony Vegas. Its 1.5 gig.. So, what settings do I need to use when rendering to get a file size small enough to post yet quality enough to not be all pixelated and grainy?

I'd appreciate some help!

Here is a link that will walk you through it.

Please note that you will need to go back and save it as an AVI file befor you encode it.

Since Sony Vegas can render into a .wmv I think his instruction is intended for those who dont have any program to render into a .wmv??

I would think there would be was to do this when I render from the raw footage..

Nope when you use the media encoder it will Compress the file and also make it WMV. Wehn you render in sony to WMV it does not compress the file. I had the same problem with Sony studio 9 but after follwing Bowanas instruction it worked out great and the footage looked good

Wen you rendered it to .avi from vegas in the tab labeled template is HD 1080-60i YUV.. Did you leave it at that and did you leave the frame rate @ NTSC under the custom video tab?

Do you render in HD or Standard?

Also how big are your .avi files?

Luther,
You don't have to render in SD. I rendered my files in full HD .WMV that was over 500mg I ran that HD file thru the encoder using the settings that Lee spoke about and it compressed it down perfectly. Originally I thought I was going to have to render a new file in SD but tried the HD first. Worked no problem. So now I have my original HD files on my external hard drive and my encoded huntingfootage sized files also. smile.gif
