I have just gotten into using my video camera for hunts for this turkey season. It is not a pro camera, JVC GR d93 decent camera for home use in its day. I was editing a tape that my wife took of my son and I butchering a deer a few years ago and noticed how everything in the background seemed so far away. It really never dawned on me before because most of the videos were at home for Christmas or whatever. Things say, from 1' to 20' or so seem in scale( if that is the right word) but past that it looks like it is way farther than it really is. The deer was hanging under the overhang of the shed and my lake is about 150' down the hill, behind the shed, on the video it looks like its 150 yards! This is without the zoom of course. Is that just the consumer grade camera or ? Watching the hunting shows it seems like the camera picks up pretty much what the eye sees. Just wondering what causes that. Thanks, Andy.
