I have a couple of arms that I use to hold my camera. One for a tree and one to attach to ladder stands that have rales. I keep my camera to my right (I am right handed) so I can flip the LCD screen out and see it when I am drawing my bow or aiming the gun. I try to set it up where I have to move the least to make any last minute adjustments. I also have set it where my leg is against the handle that goes to my head. I can make small pan moves if needed with my leg. Hope this helps.

I know this is an old post but I just wanted to add a tip I've learned over the years about placement of the camera when taping yourself.............I always position the tree arm so that the camera is at or near eye level when standing, I've found it's much easier & faster to aquire the subject(deer ,elk) this way especially in thick cover............I've found if the camera is placed too low it's more difficult to find the animal in the LCD & it's more distracting to look down @ the camera to make sure it's on the deer @ all times..............hope this is a benefit to y'all.
